I can assure you you were experiencing something different because the macros in Rift behave uniquely. The individual likely used a third-party macro tool for his rotation, which functions smoothly in any hot bar MMO. Additionally, top 5 dps numbers are subjective; the rest of his team might have been weaker, making his performance seem impressive.
Thirdbparty referred to a keyboard or mouse featuring macro keys. Rift previously lacked a sequential macro system unlike WoW.
You seem confused about what I meant. He was repeatedly using one key (you can see it from the icon that changes its appearance, as you’ll notice in games with buttons and hotkeys like WoW or LoL), and that’s all he did during the whole battle except when he had to insert a CD, which didn’t work with macros.
