Hello, I hope everyone is doing fine. I just bought a new gaming laptop, the ROG G16. I’m curious about how the battery performance changes when the RGB backlight is off while using the keyboard. I understand the LEDs use minimal power, but I’ve noticed strange effects like an unattended baby moving inside the keyboard.

The LEDs won’t noticeably impact battery performance. On my 2007 XPS laptop, I barely observe any change in battery life when lights are on versus off, and the remaining time is around 40 minutes.

It’s probably almost zero. I recall something being seen earlier, and a large USB keyboard with a backlight only asked for a drawing of around 100mA at 5V… that’s practically nothing. That’s exactly what it asked for—not the actual power consumption.

I hope it’s possible to evaluate this. It would be useful to analyze the energy use of RGB lighting across various laptop types, including the ROG G16 and the 2007 XPS.

They are not the same, and switching between similar brands isn't always consistent.
