I previously owned a GTX 1080 Ti with EVGA Precision XOC, working without problems. The base clock was 1569 MHz, increased to 1873 MHz. I used a feature called K boost that maintained the 1873 MHz regardless of workload. In GPU-Z, when checking sensors, the GPU clock displays as 1873. Now on my ASUS 2080 TI, using GPU Tweak II, I can only push the clock up to 1798 MHz before it crashes. Even with EVGA Precision X1, this issue persists. In GPU-Z, the actual clock speed is only 300MHz. I know it's in adaptive mode and won't exceed 1798 unless needed, but how can I achieve a stable setting like the one on the 1080 Ti? Additionally, I'm confused about how clock speeds are measured on GPUs. The 2080 TI has a lower turbo boost compared to the 2080, which seems contradictory since the TI is meant to be faster. Yet benchmarks show the 2080 TI performs about 15-20 frames better than the 1080 Ti or 2080, both of which have higher base and boost speeds.

Likely more focused on managing power usage and temperatures. The 2080 Ti consumes around 275 W even with a core clock that's 100-150 MHz lower than the 2080. What core frequency do you observe under load during your highest stable overclock? You can use tools like hwinfo64 to track it while running a benchmark.

The 2080 Ti contains more shader cores than the 1080 Ti, which in turn has more than the 1080 model. The GPU design also plays a role (2080 Ti uses Turing architecture, 1080 Ti uses Pascal). You might need to boost voltage and/or power settings to get the best performance from your card.

Most benchmark videos from popular YouTubers suggest it's hard to exceed around 170MHz, though some videos claim higher clocks. He recalls that ASUS only allows a maximum OC of 1798 in GPU Tweak II, but he found the hardware monitor showed a higher boost clock. He’s unsure what settings led to such a high value since it now only displays 420. He acknowledges clock speed isn’t the only factor but questions why the 2080 Ti should have a higher clock than the TI model.
