On Gigabyte's site the X670 Aorus Elite AX lists revisions 1.0 and 1.1 with nearly identical specs, yet the heatsink design changes completely. The revision 1.1 board appears only on South African and Armenian stores, not online. There seems to be no clear indication of functional differences between these versions. It’s puzzling why Gigabyte would redesign a motherboard component this way and then stop selling it.

Heatsink upgrade planned. Eventually, version 1.0 will be phased out, and new stock should feature 1.1. My colleague and I recently installed a Ryzen 7900X with a Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX, and the heatsinks match Rev 1.0.

either the previous heat sinks had problems or the newer ones cost less, and the savings were significant enough to turn the switch on profitably
