It’s a bit of a two-step situation. A friend reached out asking if upgrading to Windows 11 was worthwhile, mentioning they liked it and suggested it. The next day, they noticed they were stuck on an "Undoing changes made to your computer" screen for hours. Each time the PC started, the only accessible part before the loop was the BIOS. It seems they usually had an option to enter setup or select their boot drive, which got them into the cycle.
I joined the discussion to ask about the most effective method to clear a boot drive when only the BIOS is reachable on a custom-built PC—without resorting to a full factory reset. I thought there might be solutions beyond what I know from general online sources. If no solution exists, as I’m seeing now, the question shifts to: What’s the optimal way to erase a boot drive when BIOS access is the only option on a custom-built system?

It appears several "F-keys" lead to the boot menu, but they seem to direct to "F-8" for accessing the boot options. From there, you can select a USB with Windows 10 or 11 to proceed with formatting and installing the operating system. Just a note—I’d suggest swapping in a new SSD and placing Windows on a different drive, so if your friend needs files from the booted Windows 11, those items remain accessible at this stage. If nothing is required, stick with the old drive.
