Since FPS is the main focus of games, that's all right? Not just about the technical power of three cards being used for other things like bigger textures, more detailed models, longer drawing ranges, weather, real-time lighting, shadows, physics effects and hair/fur...

Well actually, I figured that out. I wasn't complaining about FPS, just sharing info I noticed elsewhere. The main point is that 120/144Hz displays are pretty standard. No need to feel like I'm being personal—it was just a fact.

These kinds of games focus more on how they look than raw numbers. It would be disappointing for people using high-refresh displays, though it’s not a major issue

Optimized perfectly with a stunning visual experience. The best port I've encountered recently. No need for an i7—i7-4790 is sufficient. Performance stays above 60FPS even at full settings on my 4690k/GTX970.

Excellent port. As a die hard MGS fan (who Redbox'd MGSV:GZ on PS3 just to get his fix), here are my thoughts -Reflex mode (the three second slow motion you get upon being spotted) with a keyboard and mouse accuracy makes the game stupid easy. You can turn it off in the options. -While an excellent port, the game's DOF is a little too much. If you're trying to watch someone with binoculars through a bush, you're going to have a bad time as the focus will switch between foreground and background easily. Same goes for watching someone through a small space such as in a grate or under a building. No DOF option in menu from what I've seen. -No mouse controls on the menus. Kind of a thing with Japanese ports. -Some screen tearing (even with VSync on) in Borderless Windowed mode. None in Fullscreen. -You get BOTH the PS and XBOX exclusive content (Raiden mission/ Deja Vu mission). Really can be called the 'Definitive Edition.' -You can not import your own music into the game, as was found in the PS3 version. Which sucks because it was fun calling down a helicopter to aid you while it blazes your favorite song (or in my case "Rules of Nature") -Capped at 60fps. It's been known but...there it is. At least it's not 30. -Weapon switching is a little janky. You switch using 1, 2, 3, and 4. And you select alternatives by holding down the number and then using the scroll wheel to set it. So no real UI tweaks for a keyboard+mouse setup. Kind of to be expected, but disappoing none the less. -Some might hate the FOV, it can get pretty narrow at times, especially when you are in small quarters (such as between two tents). TB's gonna rage. -No mouse acceleration! -Dat draw distance. So nice to not see all the plants pop up 20 feet from Big Boss as was found in the PS3 version. Won't speak on the length. But I bet MOST will play the game once or twice and get 1-5 hours out of it. Those that love MGS or the stealth genre would get more playtime out of it. Gotta tip your hat to Kojima. I have a lot of faith that MGSV:TPP will be an excellent PC port now and this is one of the best Japanese developed AAA PC ports to date.

From what I’ve observed so far, the main criticism appears to be its brevity. However, several reviewers have pointed out they’ve extracted more engaging gameplay time from it than many expensive AAA games. I’m considering purchasing it just to appreciate a solid PC version of this long-running Japanese console series. I’m also a big fan of stealth titles, and the fact it launched on Steam with a 33% discount makes it an attractive choice. Edit: I just completed the main mission. I’m running a overclocked Core i5-750 with GTX 770 at 1080p, achieving near-maximum performance except for SSAO which I set to "High." The frame rate stayed stable, with only minor stuttering. Performance was strong, and beyond 4K playback and a slight ambient occlusion tweak, I don’t see the need for a top-tier graphics card.

He feels a strong connection to the PC version, making it worthwhile to have MGS back. It's essentially comparable to a VR missions disk, but at $14 (about $11 on GMG), I believe I'm getting good value. The side quests really shine if you let yourself get fully immersed. If you take your time, all the subtle Kojima touches become more noticeable. On an i5-2400/GTX 970 at 1440p maxed out, it maintains around 50fps and often stays steady at 60fps. It's definitely a solid port with the Fox engine, and some PC-exclusive features are expected to appear soon. What he mentioned

Incredible port, I could run this at 45 FPS on my laptop equipped with a GTX 740M. Extremely smooth performance.
