You own a Windows disk that you've already used on one machine. You also tried it on another but kept getting prompts asking to verify Windows. Now you're planning to build a new computer around the 1st of the month and need to avoid using Windows until then. Can you reuse that disk without triggering the verification warning? (Note: It's Windows 8.1.)

Set up Windows using a free trial. Just skip entering a product key and it will provide you with a 90-day testing period. If the setup can't be resumed, the issue may relate to your license; you can access a 90-day trial for Windows 8 or 7 here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcente...enterprise

I’m trying to clarify my point, but it seems I’m still getting the meaning.

When setting up Windows, you may encounter a step requiring your product key. If left empty, proceed to the 'Next' button. This typically installs Windows for a 90-day trial without asking for activation. If the 'Next' button remains disabled due to missing or invalid key, your version doesn’t support trial installation. In that scenario, follow the link from my earlier post to download the 90-day trial and wait until you can purchase a license to proceed with formatting and reinstalling.

After setting it up, it will request a product key 90 days later. If you possess one, you can simply input it.

You are welcome to use the product key at any time before now.
