Essentially similar to the description. Generally my system remains active most of the time (though it enters sleep when idle) and I experienced no issues with the card before now. Recently I took a vacation and turned the PC off. About ten days later I returned and when I powered it back on, one of the fans on my graphics card began spinning up to full speed instantly. I attempted to update the NVIDIA drivers and restarted the system multiple times, but it still didn’t reach 100% performance from the moment it powered on (before Windows). I tried using MSI Afterburner to manage the fans, but nothing changed – the fan remained at maximum speed. It would occasionally slow down briefly before resuming full rotation (which is normal for the other two fans). I shut down the PC overnight and came back today. Now, when I first started the system, the fan didn’t spin at all (I thought it worked), then it started spinning slightly, paused, then accelerated again for a while before stopping once more. It now spins up briefly for a few seconds, pauses, and then restarts, appearing unstable and ready to reach full speed at any moment. I’m worried this could be a hardware issue. What should I do? Is there a software-related cause? To mention, I purchased this card in late 2020, and in 2021 I replaced the thermal pads, so even though I don’t recall the process well (I mostly followed the instructions), I can open the card to inspect the fans. I considered disconnecting the fan cable and running it with just two fans instead of three, since my case is well-ventilated and has two large fans at the bottom that blow air directly onto the card (fractal design torrent). I’m wondering what steps could be taken to fix the fans or if sending it to a repair shop would be an option. Thank you for your assistance!

The fan connector might have weak contact, but that wouldn’t account for a 100% match. I’d replace the connector and then test with the fan control. You should notice the difference between the set value and actual performance.
