the laptop belongs to my mom who is a teacher. two years ago she used a "technical" version with Windows 7 because it was bought in the USA. since she didn’t understand English, the person chose to keep it in English instead of Spanish. now, after using an online class, the laptop is running slower than usual. i suspect this is related to the Windows 7 system. i did something once to make it run slower, so my question is how can i revert back to Windows 10 without deleting any files? i really appreciate your understanding (sorry for the poor English).

You probably won’t notice a performance change between Windows 7 and 10. Rather than upgrade, try turning off unused startup programs in System Configuration (Win+R, type msconfig in Run) > Startup and restarting. If you remain certain Windows 7 is the problem, use the Windows 10 Installation Media from the provided link to upgrade without losing data, choosing "Upgrade this PC now" and then "Keep my files" when asked.

Only when the system isn't built for Windows 7. For instance, integrated Intel GPU in Coffee Lake models don't work.
