You’ve assembled a retro PC with Windows 98SE and are eager to expand your library. Regarding GOG, offline installers should generally work on older systems, though compatibility can vary depending on hardware and OS updates. If you’re looking for alternatives to building from scratch, consider using emulators or modern emulation tools that support classic games. Always check the specific requirements of each title before attempting installation.

It varies based on the age we're discussing. A lot of GOG content is set up for DOSBOX environments.

This section makes me question the approach. I’m not confident DOSBOX will function properly on a real Windows 98 system. I think after setting everything up fully, I’ll experiment and observe how it behaves. It’s mainly about checking if others have faced similar challenges before.

GOG wants to make classic games work on today's computers. It makes sense to get the Windows 98 versions of the games.

It seems you're looking for authentic versions, which are usually affordable. I imagine setting up an old computer and running classic games like GOG or DosBox is a smart choice. Makes sense!
