Hi there! Your friend has an older machine with some limitations. He’s thinking about trying Left 4 Dead or Counter Strike 1.6 again, but those don’t work well on his setup. The system runs a stock Athlon processor with a 6600 chip and only 512MB of RAM, which is pretty basic. The graphics card is outdated and overheats quickly—reaching around 88°C after extended play. He also mentioned a recent League of Legends update that dropped to just 5 FPS, making it unplayable. Since he can’t upgrade the hardware, other games would be tough to run smoothly either. He prefers non-simulation titles and doesn’t want to use emulators. Let me know if you need more ideas!

There’s no chance Battlefield 3 will run there, though the others could still function properly.

He seems focused on collecting a wide range of games rather than just playing online. The system works well for the mid-2000s and before, offering many quality titles from that era.

Battlefield 2? If you manage to get one, Rock Raiders is enjoyable. It’s a LEGO title. You might enjoy Arma Cold War assault or Operation Flashpoint. There are several Arma titles such as Arma Gold. Star Wars Republic Commando and Battlefront 2 should also be worth checking out.

we don’t care about online or offline, our links are pretty bad anyway, so we just used to play League of Legends because it had the best ping (140ms, fun to play). he just came by and I gave him some DVDs—FEAR, Blacksite, Fallout 3, and a few others. LAN parties still exist since the internet is slow, but we’d need at least six more friends with rigs to make it work. A party with BF1942 and BF2 would be awesome, plus the classics like Counter Strike, Half Life, and Unreal 99.

If there are drivers available, I’d think about downgrading the operating system to Windows XP, assuming it’s not already installed. This would likely ensure better compatibility with older games. Of course, there’s also the concern about downloading updates online, but that’s a minor point.

I just came back and forgot to suggest Unreal Tournament 2004, Counter-Strike source, Garry’s Mod, and possibly Doom 3.
