I recently acquired Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 for PC, but I'm facing some problems. The audio, especially the cutscenes, is playing before the animations, which makes everything feel uneven. I've tried setting up a virtual environment to mimic Win95/98/XP, but I'm not sure if that will solve the issue. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

DOSBox offers a way to mimic the DOS environment. It isn't completely foolproof, but with proper guides and tutorials you can extract value from it. The visual aspect involves launching another OS inside a virtual machine using specialized tools. It demands processing power from your PC and requires handling the cdkey properly.

When you launch the virtual machine, do you require the CD key? You can use it in Windows 98/XP and run the OS for up to 30 days without it. You can recreate the VM setup even without a key, though compatibility might be an issue with Vista. The game files you accessed had compatibility issues—trying to run them through 'WinXP, SP2' caused a CD-ROM insertion error. You can download the files and create a CD-ROM yourself if needed. The audio in cut scenes runs slower than the video, about a second of delay.

The audio problem is something you'll have to accept. It relies on outdated codec that's no longer supported. I've faced similar issues with the Settlers III CD intro and later with Jazz Jackrabbit, even when using DOSBox.
