Retail edition in DVD format for GTA V.
All issues appeared only during the launch day when everyone was in a hurry to download. It should have been fine—I didn’t encounter any problems when starting the software.
I purchased the physical discs without any problems. Once installed from the discs, it needs to download an extra 5GB and then checks for updates before installing them. That’s all. The discs I bought came from Muller, and they were the preorder version, so I received 1,200,000 in game currency with it. I didn’t have to preorder it. Although the installation from discs is really time-consuming, I only bought a physical copy because I prefer CDs for their vintage feel. For quicker setup, I suggest getting a digital version instead.
Ordered the DVD edition, it launched smoothly with no installation issues, though the process is lengthy—around 90 minutes. Once done, a 5GB update follows, offering additional updates if installed promptly. The initial 5GB was the largest size, with subsequent updates typically around 300-500MB.
It's understandable to be upset after spending time on a patch. You've been waiting over five days for it to arrive!
I'm not sure about that. The stores are just a short walk away, but the game is quite large at 60GB and my internet speed is around 8Mbps—so it doesn't really matter. Swapping disks was tough because I had to be there in person; I figured I could manage about 40Mbps for about six hours. If I had to download it, I'd be stuck with a slow 8Mbps connection for around twenty hours, tying up the line. That makes sense. Plus, getting the copy cost me roughly $20 less.
