Hi, I just purchased a 3800x for Black Friday and received my H100i Platinum SE via RMA. I attempted to push it beyond 4.1 GHz, but it remains stable at around 4.3 with R20. However, at P95 it crashes immediately. When I try 4.4 GHz, nothing works. Many users report reaching 4.4 and experiencing similar problems. Despite good temperatures (4.2°C at 1.275V with 82°C under full load), the speed doesn’t seem to translate. Could be a mismatch between your setup and the CPU’s capabilities? Let me know if you need further guidance!

You should aim for high overclocks in the 70s rather than the 60s. 7nm performance can be quite affected by temperature.

Consider reapplying your cooler's insulation. An H100i model is designed to maintain lower temperatures effectively.

They offer air coolers that match the performance of the H100i. You seem upset... sorry for the inconvenience.

You might consider that approach, though the tiny process node complicates cooling. I wouldn’t anticipate a 240mm rad AIO improving performance that much.

I also appreciate the style, though that’s just my opinion. It really helps with the space savings. I’m considering adding a water cooling system next.

You're thinking about water cooling. That's a great choice. I'm confident you'll enjoy it. Go for it!

Yea, I just don't know how tight I should get the screws. The screws on the AMD mounting bracket are poorly designed so they can theoretically tighten down infinetly. Yea, it sucks.

I've been eager to land a position this summer, hoping the chance won't disappear amid these ongoing challenges. Deals can be tough to come by.

The issue with Zen 2 overclocking is that CPU performance changes significantly based on the software being used. AMD doesn’t hide any special techniques, Prime95 still affects the FPU now that they added a decent version. When running stock software, it will apply a standard power cap. Notice how the clock speed for Prime95 tends to be lower than Cinebench R20. With manual fixed clock/voltage overclocking, if you're only stable at CB20, you won’t reach P95 stability. Therefore, fixed clock/voltage should be handled very carefully. The only reliable option for stability across any workload is using PBO.
