Restrict bandwidth for particular gadgets
I own Century Link paired with a Technicolor C2100T gateway. I bought a Linksys E1200 for a few dollars. Someone is staying over and has a couple of gadgets on the network; when they’re away, the others experience problems—like playing an album from Google Play Music becoming unstable or stopping altogether. My connection is 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up, but everything works fine when I’m not there. The setup includes a Technicolor C2100T gateway connected to a Netgear router, with all my devices on that router, each having its own network. The issue is whether it’s possible to restrict the two devices linked via a static IP to a slower 5 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up connection, giving other devices priority.
