I received a UniFi AP-AC-Lite around 2018. Right now I use it as an extra connection option because older gadgets seem to prefer it more than the ISP’s service, both in terms of signal and speed. My newer equipment tends to connect via the ISP’s network. At least I wanted to look for firmware updates and consider changing the SSID to something updated. When first installing, I wasn’t aware of a local login feature, so I used an online one. I’m unsure what the password is and haven’t been able to figure it out after trying several guesses. The “forgot password” option doesn’t work, and I don’t receive any emails from Ubiquity or UniFi. The controller version on my laptop is 6.2.26, which was up-to-date in mid-2021. If I can’t recover that, should I replace it with a new one? I downloaded the latest 6.1.71, which is older than my current setup. I tried the advanced setup and local login, but it reports no devices found. This is getting tough—I might try brute-forcing more password options before giving up. Could there be a reason it won’t work if already set up? It’s on the same network as the devices I’m trying to connect to. Edit: The AP has a physical reset button for factory resets. Should I risk that? Otherwise, I might end up bricking it.

You can simply restart it. I encountered this when configuring my E7. These resources could assist (the recovery mode option isn't necessary—just install the firmware and it should work again).

Use the pinhole again and try this method. I’ve repeated it a few times while learning about the Unifi system.

@OhioYJ @AbydosOne @OddOod here for the details. Since it's late, I'll try again tomorrow. A quick question: how does a Controller differ from the newer Network Application? Should I stick with the newest Network App? It seems my hardware's latest firmware was August last year, so I'm probably three years out of date. Good to see they still offer updates after all this time. I wasn't aware this was an option. From what I see, it doesn't seem necessary right now, but I'll think about it later.

To the best of my knowledge, the Network app replaced the "Controller" software. I've only used the Network app so far, since that's what was available when I joined the ecosystem. It performed well for me. I keep my backups locally, and during an incident I restored my backup, bringing everything back online. It's also important to note that even without the app running or being accessible, everything functions normally—you just can't modify or track anything.
