I'm changing the motherboard soon and intend to clear Windows from my SSD. If my games are stored on a 1TB HDD, would I also need to wipe that?

He likely needed to reinstall all the games due to registry issues. Typically, save games are saved on your Windows drive or user profile. I’m not sure how cloud or Steam stores them because of that.

Absolutely, that makes sense. Steam offers cloud services and allows saving progress online through Origin.
