When using Windows 8.x, the "Refresh PC" option can reinstall the operating system without changing your files, and it will also reinstall Windows Store applications. A collection of classic desktop software that was removed will appear on your desktop, allowing you to review the list and re-download the apps if needed. For older Windows versions, a full reinstall is required, and you should manually transfer your files back after backing them up. All programs will need to be reinstalled.
