It sends a notification, but the domains can't be resolved. That's okay for the update problem—just fix the apt-get command first.

I executed the installation command and it removed my network manager configurations, leaving only setup proxy or VPN options. My USB wireless adapter functions correctly, so what should I do now?

Now I see what's happening. Networkmanager seems to have been corrupted, so reinstalling it with apt-get might fix things. It looks like the package configuration is mismatched, possibly affecting your network connection. Installing the Mint meta package could resolve the issue. You might need to check Synaptics for the correct version if you're using Cinnamon Desktop.
