Hello everyone! I hope you're having a great day. What I just went through yesterday was unusual for my 5-month-old PC. I had been gaming nonstop, and during that session I accidentally skipped the overclocking step. Normally, I increase my Ryzen 5 5600X to 4.6ghz every few days while gaming, keeping temperatures between 50-60°C. I only do this when demanding games are running.
However, after the game, I forgot to apply the overclock and instead raised my CPU from 3.7ghz to 4.6ghz. I also lowered the voltage a bit. This routine has been going on for months without any issues.
But then, while playing, I decided to boost the speed again. The result was a sudden crash right after I pressed "Save." I expected a restart and some troubleshooting, but instead the PC shut down completely. It didn’t show a blue screen like before, which was unusual. Instead, it just restarted itself. After a few restarts, I opened Windows and stayed logged in for 15-20 seconds. The system kept looping back into restarts.
I went through all checks—CPU, RAM, BIOS settings, power supply—and everything seemed fine. The motherboard lights turned red when it powered on, and the VGA/BOOT lights also flared up. I even tested removing the RAM and changing its position, but nothing changed. My PSU looks normal in the BIOS, so it wasn’t the power issue.
The problem started after I saved my changes. The RAM didn’t help, and I couldn’t get it to boot normally without entering Safe Mode. I only managed to open Windows briefly in Safe Mode for a few seconds before it crashed again.
I checked the CPU and RAM again, and everything was within specs. I tried resetting CMOS by removing the battery, but that didn’t work. The red lights are worrying, but my hardware tests confirmed they were okay.
Once I entered my login, the PC crashed immediately. I wasn’t panicked because I thought it was just a normal failure. But now I’m unsure what to do next. Should I reinstall Windows? Maybe there’s a driver issue or something else going on. Thanks for reading!
