I'm encountering a peculiar problem related to my newer Nvidia graphics drivers. This began shortly after updating my GPU software to play *Detroit Become Human*, using version 445.87 (which was the second most recent at that time). That game performed flawlessly. However, I recently upgraded again to version 451.48, and since then, I’ve experienced this issue in two separate games: *Sleeping Dogs* and *Grid 2*.

The core of the problem is that when I increase my monitor’s refresh rate to 74 Hz, the games consistently fail to enter fullscreen. Attempting any workaround – like pressing Alt-Enter or altering in-game settings – results in either running at 74 Hz in windowed mode, or defaulting to 60 Hz in fullscreen or windowed displays. Running at 74 Hz while in fullscreen simply doesn't occur.

To investigate, I attempted a complete driver removal using DDU to uninstall the latest version. Instead of installing the newest drivers, I received older releases from Nvidia’s website – specifically, a version from February 2020 (442.50). Remarkably, this older driver version resolved the issue; I can now play fullscreen at 74 Hz without any problems. I’m currently utilizing these older drivers because they eliminate the issue, and I haven't noticed any performance degradation. Do you happen to be experiencing a similar problem, or is this perhaps linked exclusively to the specific games I’ve tested?

Welp, nevermind. Looks like using DDU has resolved the issue permanently. Upon updating to the latest drivers from the February version, I went straight to 74 Hz after a restart(had to create the custom resolution again) and Sleeping Dogs now runs fullscreen. Don't have Grid 2 installed anymore but I think it's okay now. Thanks for the help

Let's see if increasing your monitor’s refresh rate by a small amount—perhaps 5Hz—helps determine whether the issue lies with monitor overclocking itself, specifically within the newest driver version. If you find a problem there, I recommend reporting it to the GeForce driver feedback forum.

Are you utilizing CRU for overclocking?

I’m curious if NvidiaCP's synchronization options are influencing your overclock attempts. Experiment with various configurations, such as enabling or disabling them, testing adaptive/fast modes, and exploring the application control feature along with any low input latency settings.

I haven’t explored frequencies a bit above 5 Hz, however, I attempted using 73 Hz as an alternative to 74 and the problem persisted. To evaluate with a frequency around 65 Hz, I would need to reinstall the most recent graphics drivers and subsequently revert back to the older versions. However, is it possible to transition from newer drivers to previous ones without utilizing DDU? I’m currently configuring a tailored resolution within the Nvidia Control Panel at 74 Hz. Could you advise me on which specific settings in the Nvidia Control Panel should be adjusted? I’ll begin by installing the latest drivers, then experiment with 65 Hz and report back my findings.

No problem man. Looks like it was just one of those funny issues that need time to resolve itself.

I’m experiencing a significant problem and require your assistance urgently. I recently obtained Sleeping Dogs for my PC through R G mechanics, however, the game will not run after completing the download. My computer specifications are as follows: Intel Pentium processor, 4GB of RAM, and a GPU with a frequency of 1.33Hz. I would greatly appreciate your help resolving this issue.
