Resolved performance problem
Resolved performance problem
This represents my last option. Over the last six months, each game I’ve played has experienced the same problem. I encounter brief, instantaneous pauses where all players freeze and my ping slightly rises (typically from approximately 21 to around 50 before returning to normal). Initially, I suspected a potential packet loss problem, but I haven't been able to locate any supporting data, and my internet service provider states they aren’t observing any issues. Could this be related to hardware? During these freezes, networking alerts appear within games such as Rainbow Six and Overwatch. I am now genuinely perplexed.
If connected to a DSL connection, verify if there’s a firmware update available for your router. Regardless of whether you use DSL or cable, what's the age of your router?
Additionally, some video games offer instructions on modifying browser settings to achieve a more consistent ping.
Gaming on servers located in distant regions can frequently lead to increased and unstable ping times. Occasionally, specific games simply exhibit convoluted data pathways between their servers and your computer. To address this, services such as Kill Ping and Haste provide connections through optimized server routes, resulting in reduced latency and consequently, lower ping. Certain providers offer a complimentary trial period, including Haste.
Below is a compilation of applications designed to reduce ping that can be utilized without charge.

I have installed fiber internet via a BT Home Hub 6, and they are sending a replacement router this Saturday; let’s see if that resolves the issue.
Occasionally, a speedy internet service provider and a new router don’t completely resolve an issue either. If your latency is acceptable in certain video games but high in others, it likely indicates you’re connecting to servers outside your region or that the data pathway from the game server to your computer is congested (erratically switching between multiple locations). You can address the first situation by configuring your game browser to prioritize servers within your own country. The latter requires a specialized application designed to optimize your connection and reduce latency between your PC and the game server. Please refer to the rest of my previous post, as it has been updated to include this information.
I experience this problem across every game, as they’re restricted to my European server due to my location in the United Kingdom. Do you have any applications that can reduce latency that you would suggest? Thanks!
