Despite my computer being quite capable, I'm experiencing consistently low frame rates. My friends with comparable hardware are achieving around 200 frames, but I'm struggling to maintain a stable performance in games like Destiny 2. It’s perplexing why this is happening, and I suspect there’s a reason related to my system configuration. You can view my parts list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zcTHZR

Could you describe what components your friends are using?

Initially, the first generation Ryzen processors lagged behind Intel considerably in terms of single-core speed, which is important for gaming.

Your current configuration appears promising, but a 1600 processor will likely struggle to keep up with a GTX 1080 Ti. You should consider upgrading to a Ryzen 2600 or, ideally, a Ryzen 3600. Remember to update your motherboard's BIOS to the version suggested for either processor while it’s still connected.

Could you describe what your friends’ computer is made of?

Initially released Ryzen processors were noticeably slower than Intel in terms of single-core speed, and this has a significant impact on gaming performance.

And I’m intending to refresh it soon—do you believe it's significantly limiting my performance?

His processor is significantly superior for gaming, which explains why he achieves higher frame rates.
