I’m weighing the purchase of either of these laptop models:

A) Featuring a GTX 1070 Max-Q with 16GB of memory and an i7-8750H processor (containing six cores).
B) Equipped with a GTX 1080 Max-Q, boasting 24GB of memory and an i7-7700HQ processor (with four cores).

Option A is weaker in graphics performance and has less system memory, but it offers a more powerful processor. Conversely, Option B provides stronger graphics capabilities and increased memory, albeit with a less potent CPU.

Considering these differences, which laptop do you believe is superior for use as a gaming device?

For gaming, B is undoubtedly the best choice. A stronger graphics card is key here; a high-performance GPU remains paramount. Quad-core processors are generally sufficient for gaming, eliminating the need for six-core options.

For gaming, B is undoubtedly the best choice in my view. A stronger graphics card is definitely the most crucial factor. Quad-core processors are still adequate for gaming; there’s no requirement for a hexa-core processor.

If it’s a Total War game, then option A is likely preferable.

Let’s examine the screen display quality of each laptop. Typically, the graphics card will perform more strongly, but it’s likely to vary depending on the game and potentially benefit from a superior processor.
Furthermore, I’m interested in understanding the memory configurations. Are these computers utilizing dual channel setups? Twenty-four gigabytes seems like an unusual amount.

Playing games requires a powerful graphics card, so I’ll select an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 for my needs.
