My home has several residents, and I subscribe to the quickest internet service available from our provider. My router and modem support numerous devices through Wi-Fi, yet they comfortably operate within the bandwidth limits specified by our company for both wireless and wired connections. I consistently enjoy smooth gameplay when connected directly to the network, but problems arise when my housemate is also gaming over a wired connection at the same time—I then experience considerable delays, while they don't. I’m attempting to determine the cause of this discrepancy and find a solution.

There’s a possibility the router's quality of service settings are inadequate. Other devices on your network could be consuming a disproportionate amount of bandwidth, as you rightfully should receive the full allocation. I swapped out the router provided by our internet provider with a device of my own, and I configured quality of service to ensure 190 megabits out of our 200-megabit plan are dedicated to my usage.

The internet provider installed it, but neither I nor the other individual can log in.

The router's quality of service handling could be problematic; based on the activity of other devices connected to the network, they may be consuming your internet speed – a fair thing considering you should receive it all. I swapped out the router provided by our internet provider with one that I selected and manage, and indeed, I configured the QoS settings to ensure 190 Megabits per second of our contracted 200 Megabits is dedicated to my usage, regardless of what others are doing.
