Hi All,
I've put up with game stuttering for sometime now, two years at least. In this time i found that my previous i7-4770K was bottle necking my GPU (Asus Strix 1080ti) and in July this year i upgraded to the new Ryzen 3900x complete with new mobo (Asus Crosshair VIII x570) and RAM (G.Skill Traident Z 3600, CL 16). This would not be the end to game stuttering as i thought and it still persists to this day. I have allowed time for drivers and BIOS to mature and it still persists. I have attempted several fixes found across the internet to no avail including tweaks to BIOS, Windows, Nvidia CP, and Overlays
The stuttering occurs in all games, is fairly regular at about 2-3mins, happens with any combination of graphics settings and at any FPS. Occurs on all API's. I use a 144Hz G-SYNC monitor and been unable to resolve using Nvidia CP setting changes. Occurs with all/some Hardware overclocked or not. Occurs even with all other programs closed. GPU usage drops can be seen at time of stutter.
Would anyone agree that at this point i should be focusing on this as a hardware issue? I've been trying to fix mostly on the assumption this is a software issue.
Would appreciate any help and anything really that points me in the right direction of how to deal with this.

Hi All,
I've put up with game stuttering for sometime now, two years at least. In this time i found that my previous i7-4770K was bottle necking my GPU (Asus Strix 1080ti) and in July this year i upgraded to the new Ryzen 3900x complete with new mobo (Asus Crosshair VIII x570) and RAM (G.Skill Traident Z 3600, CL 16). This would not be the end to game stuttering as i thought and it still persists to this day. I have allowed time for drivers and BIOS to mature and it still persists. I have attempted several fixes found across the internet to no avail including tweaks to BIOS, Windows, Nvidia CP, and Overlays
The stuttering occurs in all games, is fairly regular at about 2-3mins, happens with any combination of graphics settings and at any FPS. Occurs on all API's. I use a 144Hz G-SYNC monitor and been unable to resolve using Nvidia CP setting changes. Occurs with all/some Hardware overclocked or not. Occurs even with all other programs closed. GPU usage drops can be seen at time of stutter.
Would anyone agree that at this point i should be focusing on this as a hardware issue? I've been trying to fix mostly on the assumption this is a software issue.
Would appreciate any help and anything really that points me in the right direction of how to deal with this.

The power supply unit is an EVGA SuperNOVA 750w P2, a model previously deemed sufficient for my system configuration and one that was not upgraded. The memory consists of 16GB (8x2) installed in the motherboard's primary slots, with the Infinity Clock configured at 1800Mhz and utilizing XMP settings (3600Mhz, CL16). I maintained the PC’s original configuration aside from enabling XMP, having previously experimented with lowering RAM speeds to 3200MHz, and this issue continues even after a recent Windows installation.

Observe MSI Afterburner while monitoring your graphics card’s performance – you'll likely see it reaching its maximum capacity without actually playing a game. Similarly, check your Task Manager to understand how much Google Chrome consumes system resources, and notice that Firefox also has a significant impact. Experimenting with alternative browsers could potentially resolve performance problems. I successfully eliminated stuttering this way. Enjoy your gaming!

We appreciate your feedback, it was a helpful idea, however, this did not eliminate the freezing issue. The BIOS was recently updated last week to include AGESA 1.0.0.4, and a CMOS reset was performed today without any positive outcome. Additionally, I attempted connecting the computer’s power cable directly to the wall outlet instead of using a power extender, which also failed to improve the situation. I have observed that GPU utilization decreases by approximately 4-25% during each instance of freezing, and GPU power consumption also diminishes slightly—around 2-6%.

Currently, I am continuing to investigate this problem and in recent research, I found the Nvidia Control Panel Debug Mode, which reverts GPU clock speeds to the manufacturer’s standard 1080 Ti speed (1480MHz) instead of any customized speeds applied by Asus. This adjustment has entirely eliminated the stuttering I was experiencing.

Considering this, can we conclude that the issue stems from a faulty graphics card or power supply unit, or perhaps it’s a combination of both?
