My gaming computer specifications are: GTX 1050ti, Intel Core i5-8400, and 16GB of RAM. Currently, I’m using a 75Hz FreeSync monitor which results in significant screen tearing. I have two choices: purchase a $200 144Hz G-Sync compatible monitor, or acquire an RX 580 with 8GB of VRAM to enable FreeSync. If I bought the $200 monitor, I would likely purchase a used GTX 1070 in April. Which option do you recommend? Thank you.

Indeed, and it functions with approximately one-third of 400 displays.

Nah, only 12 is verified by Nvidia, driver support is for universal freesync, not just 12 monitors. Effect could differ though. Doesn’t hurt to try.
