I recently assembled a computer for a friend and am struggling with the 4K monitor setup. It only displays at 1024x768 after applying the "apply" option in Windows to switch to 4K. The screen briefly goes black before reverting to 1024x768, regardless of the resolution chosen. This behavior occurs with any other setting, except when using a mini displayport 1.1. When connected via DVI, I can adjust the resolution smoothly up to 1080p. Any advice?

Yes, games can run at 4K resolution smoothly if the hardware supports it.

Never attempted it; no games available. I ran a 30-minute stress test on the GPU—probably a 4K session.
