Updating to a newer version of Windows, like Windows 11, typically clears the registry and resets certain system settings.

For the registry, it seems you should save a backup before making changes and restore afterward once you're on Windows 11. Back up the Windows Registry using the provided link from NortonLifeLock. Still unsure about how your settings will be affected—perhaps the legacy Backup and Restore options remain functional (Settings → Update & Security → Backup → Backup → Backup & Restore).

It doesn't automatically replace the registry or reset settings. You can choose to back up your data before proceeding, ensuring your apps remain unaffected. Let me know if you need further clarification.

I’m not sure about the whole concept, but I understand it doesn’t remove the changes I’ve made myself. For a fresh start, you could reset it or reinstall from scratch.

A fresh setup of Windows 11 or a simple registry reset depends on your needs. A clean install removes all previous data, while a registry reset only adjusts settings without deleting files. Choose based on how much you want to restore or start over.

Sure, I think that makes sense.
