Reset the HP Elitebook 840 G6 BIOS settings using the correct password.
I recently acquired an HP EliteBook 840 G6 from a nearby electronics recycling center. The device has a BIOS admin lock that blocks changes, and despite clearing the CMOS multiple times, HP Sure Boot always creates a backup of the BIOS even after you do. I can't reach the original owner because ERA doesn’t maintain such records. There’s no error message when the password is entered three times incorrectly, so bios-pw.org isn’t viable. Since I don’t have a soldering iron, I’m unable to reprogram the BIOS chip. I managed to boot into Windows via recovery mode, but I still need to reinstall it. Anyone have suggestions? I really need this laptop for school.
