You have a valid Windows 7 license for an X64 system, but with a small SSD, you'll need to choose a minimal partition size. The smallest usable partition depends on how Windows allocates space, but typically it starts around 2GB or less.

The key was available. Files reside on HDD with a secondary SSD. No one attempted a smaller partition, even during testing.

With confidence in your copy, upgrading to the latest version seems feasible. (Note: This may depend on having a different Windows 7 edition.) Edit: It appears the process might require an upgrade key.
