In fact, the laptop should run smoothly with Windows XP after drivers are set up. However, for Linux there are users who understand distros more than I do.

I don’t have an exact original copy of XP, but I can rip it from another hard drive for you. Would you like me to proceed with that?

There is one distro lighter than Lubuntu called Crunchbang Linux. Discontinued but downloadable still.

You might suggest a discontinued distro because it offers stability and ongoing support, like BunsenLabs. It’s a community-driven project that continues development after Crunchbang ended. While OpenBox isn’t exactly a traditional desktop environment, it provides a solid alternative for users seeking something beyond mainstream options.

Consider Kolibri OS. The Linux kernel is too heavy.

It should be unnecessary as it starts up automatically. Just ensure the right drivers are installed and possibly use additional tools provided by the manufacturer for Wi-Fi connectivity, which you can download from their support site.
