Required Assistance for FX6300 Overclocking
Hello,
I'm looking to get the best performance from my gaming rig and was wondering if there are any recommendations on adjusting the Frequencies/Voltages settings. Specifically, I have a Gigabyte 970 Gaming SLI motherboard with an AMD FX-6300 at 4.5Ghz @ 1.44v, HT=2400 / NB=2200 @ 1.2v and two 4GB 1600Mhz RAM modules at 9-9-9-24. My temperatures are around 18°C at idle and about 40°C under load. I’m trying to push further but sometimes experience BSOD when increasing the NB or CPU beyond 4.5. All power-saving features are disabled. I’m curious if this issue might be connected to memory performance.
For simple OC setup, reset everything to its default state in BIOS as if you began from scratch. Then go into BIOS, turn off turbo mode, adjust the CPU multiplier with a single click, save your changes and restart to Windows. Monitor temperatures during stress testing. If everything appears normal, continue.
Eventually unstable results will occur. Adjust the vcore slightly higher in small steps according to BIOS limits. Perform another stress test. If successful, gradually increase both multiplier and vcore when appropriate. Maintain vcore at a maximum of around 1.5V.
For testing, IBT is used with default configurations. So far everything seems fine.
For a simple OC process, reset everything to its default state in the BIOS as if you were before beginning the process. Then go into BIOS, turn off turbo mode, adjust the CPU multiplier with one click, save your changes and restart to Windows. Monitor temperatures during stress testing and continue until results stabilize. If issues arise, gradually increase the vcore by the smallest permitted amount. Repeat the stress test after each adjustment. Aim to keep the vcore below 1.5V. For stress tests, IBT is used with default settings, and so far everything appears fine.
Hello!
I just achieved a stable 6 Core 4.4Ghz clock. I've noticed these chips can reach over 4.8Ghz, but it's uncommon without exceeding 1.48vcore. I'm happy with my 4.4Ghz X6 at 1.42Vcore for continuous operation.
Passmark gave me a score of 8300 CPU, placing me above most Intel processors.
