Hi everyone, I purchased an Optiplex and a 19-inch 1080p Samsung monitor at a very low cost. I set up the Optiplex as a gaming PC. The problem is with the monitor—there are flickering lines visible in the image. It came with a VGA male-to-male connector and a display-to-VGA adapter. After swapping the adapter (with an HDMI one) and the VGA cable, the issue persists. I’ve also tested the PC with a functional monitor and display cable, which works perfectly. Do you know how to resolve this? Could the VGA port on the monitor be defective?

In my opinion, TVs and monitors today are built for replacement rather than repair. The expense of fixing them with labor and parts often surpasses the price of a new unit. Unfortunately, that’s the current reality. Cars and trucks haven’t hit this stage yet—patience is key. Stay safe and good luck!

The old Samsung screen I owned had a problem with the VGA cable. When it touched the power cable, some lines appeared. It seems the cable lacked proper insulation.

This setup involves a monitor with VGA connectivity, likely from a previous generation device. The GPU you're using probably lacks modern features, which can cause performance issues at 1080P resolution. Clarify the exact model for more precise advice.

Try another display on the machine to pinpoint the problem, as the GPU might be responsible.
