I observed my GTX 1070 fans increase to around 50% every minute or so, thanks to the zero fan speed setting when idle. However, they reach the target of 59°C during normal, non-gaming use. I’m curious about how effective it is for the fans to frequently speed up and slow down. Does this actually undermine the purpose of having them off without much load?

I also wondered if it’s possible to configure a fan curve that allows the GPU to hit 59°C, turns the fans on briefly until it drops to about 45°C, and then shuts them off. It would take some time for the temperature to rise back up to 59°C before the fans restart. I’m using GPU Tweak 2 version 1.2.2.9, but I can’t find a way to set this up.

Anyone have suggestions or tools that could help? Thanks!

I'm using GPU Tweak 2 version 1.2.2.9 and I'm having trouble finding a solution.
Can you check what operating system you're using?
A search suggests you might be able to adjust the fan curve for your GPU, or use a tool like MSI Afterburner.

I searched online but couldn't find a method that matches what you're looking for. On Windows 10, the GPU adjustment doesn't let me set the fan speed to zero directly. I can only lower it to around 39%. It's not exactly a fan curve. I want the fans to run until 45°C and stop when it reaches about 59°C. I haven't used MSI Afterburner yet.

As I dig deeper, I realize the 39% minimal fan speed might actually be the strictest setting the graphics card allows me to adjust manually. I attempted MSI Afterburner and found it seems to let me set 0% at 45°C and around 45% at 60°C without using the curve or step mode. However, the monitoring part still doesn’t behave as expected—it continues to act like in the GPU Tweak.

Do you have any new updates for the software? I currently use Armoury Crate and adjust the Pump or Fan curves via the RYUJIN/Fan Control settings. FanXpert is at 1.1.0.20.

Thanks for the tip, I will try Armoury Crate and FanExpert tomorrow and update.
There is GPU Tweak verion 3, havent tried that either, it does however look similar to my version...
Nice rig, btw. But man, how did you fit an AIO and a 4070 into Fractal Terra???

Thanks for the feedback! TheAIO isn't quite right - it's placed below the case. The GPU temperature in the second photo is maxed out during Heaven benchmarking. The machine never hits that heat when running CIV VII or KCD2. I also painted the walnut front plate to match my desk. This AIO operates quietly.
