Hello. Your setup involves an older PC without a backup drive, which you've upgraded to Windows 8/10 (retail) from Windows 7 (official). You're considering installing a retail copy of Windows 7 and wondering if the activation key will still work. I used the program (free edition) and it only detected the Windows 10 Home key, not the Windows 7 one. That makes sense since it didn’t look beyond the active system. Probably the best option is to install it yourself. :3

I’m giving up on this machine and decided to reinstall Windows 7. I got a copy and set it up, and the original key remained functional.
