Ok so I am hoping someone on here is a networking expert and can help me with this little conundrum. Ok so here is my setup. Comcast cable coming into house (Modem) Modem connected to Netgear R6900 ---> eithernet to gigabit switch. Gigabit switch going to various room in the house. Now i moved into this house (renting a room) and have a Netgear R6700. I plugged my R6700 into the wall. So now in my room i have a separate network (I believe this is called a subnet????) (Now i know i could just change my router to AP mode and it will fix my problems but i didnt feel like reconfirming my phone and wemo's nvidia shield (which runs a Plex Server) etc etc to their SSID. (Even though at this point probably would of been faster but now i want to know if this is possible) Ok so heres is what i want to do. I have a 6TB HD connected to my shield on R6700 network that i can access from my main computer (which i use to copy movie files to the HD) I would like the devices (Nvidia shields and Computers) on the R6900 network to be able to access my 6TB Harddrive on the 6700 network. The routers are connected to each other so i think its possible????

Create static routes on each router. For instance, the R6900's network is 192.168.1.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Disable NAT on the R6700. Information destined for each router should match: R6900 - Destination Network (192.168.2.0) - Subnet Mask (255.255.255.0) - Next Hop (WAN port IP of R6900 subnet, assign manually). R6700 - Destination Network (0.0.0.0) - Subnet Mask (0.0.0.0) - Next Hop (192.168.1.1). The 0.0.0.0 indicates any destination, no restrictions. Refer to diagrams for specific configurations.

Thanks a lot for the replay. I ended up switching my R6700 to AP mode. Both I and the other person had older N600 routers. The AP mode on the Nighthawks is significantly better than the N600, so it resolved all the issues. By the way, I found the 6700 and 6900 for around $35 and $40.
