I repeat this update because my previous post was a bit disorganized, and I hope this makes it easier for everyone to talk about their issues with the game. Please stay engaged in the discussion here.

From my last update on the GTA V stutter issue, my gameplay felt significantly smoother, though still had some occasional stutters. Here are the details:

These interruptions are typical in games, with most occurring when much of the map loads. You might want to use an SSD. I’ve also faced stutters in GTA V while running at 3800x and with an RTX 2070. It really depends on how severe they are—if you’re driving through the same area and it randomly freezes, that could be a problem. If it feels more like a complete pause instead of a slight hiccup, it might point to a VRAM issue.

I'll experiment with adjusting some graphics settings and tweaking the undervolting options. It's curious why older users can run the same GPU or lower specs while achieving impressive visuals, even surpassing VRAM limits with smooth performance. Are there any recent updates that address this? I'm currently using very low settings far from both NVIDIA recommendations and top suggestions. Likely planning to upgrade to an M.2 drive next time I upgrade my laptop.

GTA V isn't the best optimized title available, occasional stutters are expected. If performance has recently declined or occurred following a patch, it might be due to the update affecting optimization. You're also using an older machine with just 2GB of VRAM. Consider reducing settings that strain performance, such as grass detail, shadows, and population density.

You can adjust the VRAM limit within the game to cut back on graphics quality. Reducing these settings will decrease RAM consumption. Voltage shouldn't affect stuttering frames.

Updates: My VRAM usage in GTA option was around 1000 MB even with Afterburner monitoring, sometimes reaching 1900. I changed settings to fullscreen like most users suggest, but still experience stutter while walking in the convenience store in FiveM. It might be lag caused by mods, though I’m not sure. I’m switching off my second monitor to see if that’s the issue. I’ll reset my undervolting, check temperatures, and monitor for stutter. If it was the undervolt setting, I’ll try disabling FPS limiter, forcing VSync via NVIDIA settings, and ask someone to guide me through it.

I run the game with minimal adjustments, keeping resolution low.

Online and Fivem require significantly more processing power compared to singleplayer. Is there a stuttering issue in singleplayer?

my stutter disappeared and played smoothly for a long time, even in high settings. At 1600x900 it wasn’t my default, but it worked fine. I’m confused why using native resolution still causes stutter even when I set low. Try disabling VSync and frame rate limiting.
