Hello. I recently upgraded an older 3rd gen HP 3800 SFF to an i7 CPU. Added a 1050ti low-profile graphics card. Installed 16 GB RAM. Running Evo 440 SSD with Linux OS (64-bit). Now I encounter an issue where the fan operates normally initially but then enters overdrive mode, similar to a jet engine. The monitor only powers on and stays off. I removed the graphics card and tried connecting it via HDMI and DisplayPort cables, but the problem persists even after checking the motherboard. It seems the monitor might have six fans or the board itself has been modified during the upgrade. The CPU cooler was taken off to install the card, but I’m unsure if there’s a specific way to position the cooler correctly. Was the original motherboard affected by the upgrade? The upgraded CPU is an i7 3770, which should be fine. Since I don’t have another machine to test, this might not be the root cause. If anyone has advice on resolving this, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m really stuck and need guidance on next steps. Updated November 12, 2022 by Cimadbatioz66
