Report on MacBook Pro storage issues.
Hello! It looks like your MacBook Pro is showing a lot of unused space in its storage settings. The process keeps opening a window saying it’s calculating, which suggests something is taking up room even when you’re waiting. I’ve included a screenshot for reference. Your Mac and other Apple devices have been great overall, but this kind of issue can happen occasionally—especially if files are being moved or updated. You might want to check for large downloads, background apps, or system updates that could be affecting storage. Let me know if you’d like help troubleshooting further!
It occurred once on your school Macbook Air M1 (2020, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage). The administrator needed to run cleanup software. You were working with Clipchamp, a browser editor that stored temporary Chrome files consuming all available space. A similar issue appeared on your desktop using the same program, requiring manual removal of those files. Check the size of the Chrome/Safari folders to identify excessive usage.
In the ~/Library/Caches directory, search for your browser and verify its file size. Also, examine the older app folders to determine if another issue exists.
The cache size was just 8GB, which isn’t too bad. I can search for similar options, but why can’t macOS automatically recognize them as system or app files?
I own two external 2TB M.2 SSDs—one for Time Machine and another for video storage. The issue appears when both are connected simultaneously, though I’ll remember it. Appreciate your notice.
