Replicate Plex issue by simulating network latency, packet loss, and incorrect encoding settings.
Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for assistance with a problem I’m facing using Plex Media Server. Here’s a brief summary of my environment: - OS: Pop OS inside a Proxmox VM - GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 with passthrough - Extra Components: Intel iGPU only for testing - Plex Media Server: newest release - Drivers: All current versions I’m experiencing issues where Plex transcodes at full settings, but struggles specifically with converting a movie to 4Mbps 720p. The process works smoothly in web browsers and the Plex app on Linux. Notably, it functions correctly in the Roku and Android apps. When using the Intel iGPU with Quick Sync, transcoding runs without problems. What I’ve tried: - Used a web browser on Windows - Reviewed Plex settings and configuration - Tested multiple browsers, cleared caches I’m hoping to identify if the browser type is the cause. Could anyone help me recreate this scenario? Please let me know if you can experience it too. Just run the player in your browser with only NVIDIA GPU for transcoding, use the highest bitrate movie and convert to 720p. Thanks! Spoiler alert.
