I experienced ER_CONNECTION_CLOSED in Chrome and PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR in Firefox. Occasionally I see PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR in Firefox. Games fail to connect to their servers. My DNS settings were changed to Google's on both the gateway and my PC, but it didn't resolve anything. Everything functions properly when using a VPN or connecting to neighbors' networks. The problem appears to be related to Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections. I only use Windows Defender as an antivirus/firewall. I also swapped out the coax cable—any impact? Other devices on the network are performing much better now. Thanks for any assistance in fixing this. Running Windows 10. Note: I also tried Linux (Manjaro) and the internet works there.

Verify the gateway on your PC and test connectivity by pinging your router.

Connecting to the gateway yields performance between 3 and 5 milliseconds.

I resolved the issue by removing the problematic software. Now everything is working properly.
