I consistently experience lag spikes across different situations. It doesn’t depend on the game or your internet connection speed. I’ve ruled out issues with Wi-Fi quality, router distance, or interference. I tested various fixes in the command prompt, but I’m unsure of their purpose. I’ve installed updates, checked for Windows patches, disabled antivirus software, and removed VPNs and network apps.

Other than Wi-Fi range, I’d try connecting via Ethernet to determine if the problem persists. If it does, running iperf could help identify packet loss and its severity. There’s also an online utility you can use for this check. However, a clear solution remains elusive until we pinpoint the exact cause.

WiFi often contributes significantly to network delays. It’s hard to remove entirely. Just because another machine runs faster doesn’t rule out problems with your computer. Your laptop might have a superior wireless chipset or connect to a different frequency than the desktop. How do you detect these “delay spikes”? Are you the sole user during this time? Is someone else uploading or downloading files in the background? Are Windows updates being applied? Things to think about: Know your network gear’s exact model and the wireless configurations you’re using. Check your desktop’s adapter details as well. Is there a WiFi adapter on another device? How close is your desktop to the router/ap? Are there obstacles like walls or floors between them? Use WiFi Analyzer (available in the Microsoft Store) and capture screenshots of the ‘Networks’ and ‘Analyze’ sections, showing both 2.4GHz and 5GHz outputs.

You're asking about intermittent performance issues where one device works well while another doesn't. It sounds like the problem might be related to Wi-Fi connectivity, possibly due to a different adapter or network settings. What type of Wi-Fi adapter are you using on your desktop?
