Repeated crashes during Fortnite installation – kernel security failure / clock watchdog timeout error.
Hello, I'm facing repeated BSODs when starting Fortnite, especially with error codes KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE or CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT. These crashes only happen in Fortnite and not in other games on my system. My hardware details are: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GPU - NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super, RAM - Corsair Vengeance 32GB (3200 MHz). I've taken several troubleshooting actions: updated Windows, refreshed GPU and CPU drivers, updated BIOS, ran virus scans, disabled overlays, reinstalled Fortnite files, used DISM tool, and checked system integrity. The new RAM is stable in other games, CPU isn't overclocked, and temperatures are normal. What might be causing these issues?
Based on what i've read online, it's most likely an outdated bios or a corrupted/outdated chipset driver. I know you updated your bios, so that's not the issue, but I'm not sure if you updated or fixed your chipset drivers. I know the 24h2 build was having issues with the game a few months ago, but I'm not really playing these days so I'm not sure if it's still an issue. if all that's cool and good, then maybe try going into the game files, in the win64 folder there's an easyanticheat folder which you'll wanna enter and run the easyanticheat setup .exe file. good luck!
I've installed the AMD chipset driver and used Device Manager, tried the EAC setup which opened a CMD window and closed quickly. Someone recommended using DDU, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm also considering switching to Windows 11, though I don't want to change right away since it worked fine two weeks ago with the same settings. The version I'm on is 22H2, which might be outdated.
