Repeated adrenaline spikes in AMD symptoms
Usually I restart my PC and right away see the warning when Windows starts. Often I also receive alerts while just surfing the web. This has been happening since I bought the 7900xtx at launch, and I've kept my drivers updated regularly—none of them seem very reliable. At first I thought it might be a new video card issue, but it's been about six months now and I still don't understand why it keeps happening. I was planning to mention your issue, actually. Have you upgraded to a new Nvidia GPU? If so, did you use DDU during the process? Regardless, I recommend removing any installed GPU drivers, then run DDU to refresh or restart. Execute 'sfc /scannow' via an administrator's PowerShell session. After that, run 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' (without the leading and trailing periods). Finally, reboot and install the newest AMD Adrenalin driver.
I tried the first two, but I’ll give it another shot! Also, this wasn’t my first time using PowerShell.
Are there any problems with the operating system or applications/games? If yes, it might be more complex to fix. But if it's just an irritating Adrenaline reaction, I might be able to assist. I resolved my problem using details from a Reddit thread suggesting to disable Fast Startup—this affected HDDs but not SSDs. It worked for me on Windows 10. Previously, Adrenaline would reset settings regularly (weekly or every couple of weeks). After changing the window settings, I've been free of this issue for about two and a half months. However, since you're using a 7000 series chipset, running an older driver is likely the cause. Just a heads-up—this could be due to a recent OS update resetting something.
Last night and during startup this morning, Adrenalin stopped working.
I don't think I've had a game crash on me in awhile, but there are a couple performance things that might be related. It's not uncommon for for videos on Firefox to become very choppy; and I tried a bunch of things to do with firefox to have that to stop be the case and none of them seem effective at doing so. Occasionally there will be discoloration on a picture, I think usually there like being a purple splotch when there shouldn't be that rebooting seems to fix. There is sometimes a screen dooring effect on my main monitor and often times if i check my refresh rate, the refresh rate would be 60hz instead of 270 with no option to set it back to 270hz. I used to suspect my monitor was dieing despite being about 2 years old, but my second monitor would also be stuck at 59.940hz with no option to set it back to 144hz. So I suspect it's software related and no monitor related. Also right now my second monitor is stuck at 59.940hz.
Is this a reference XTX model? You noticed the problems with the vapor chambers and parts reaching 110°C. The screen door, unusual color, and refresh rate concerns suggest a potential hardware fault with the GPU. The refresh rate issues might stem from the cables. I’d run some stability tests, confirm RAM isn’t the problem, and try switching to another display port or HDMI cable—just one monitor at a time for testing. If the issue persists, replacing it under warranty would be a good next step.
Because you're using Windows 10, I was hoping turning off "Fast Startup in Windows" would at least prevent the crashes and restarts of Adrenalin. You have multiple issues going on, and they seem to match what I've seen about AMD software. But those were meant to be resolved in the latest updates? I agree with the other user, though—I might look into whether a hardware problem could be involved. Sorry, I can't help further.
