At school, I attempt to use Tor since the filtering system is too strict. I run browser.exe or similar and then encounter an error that tor.exe is blocked by group policy. For other programs, renaming them usually works, but for Tor.exe it's unclear if changing a config file is necessary.

I’m not sure about that. My teacher allows me to use his account, so I occasionally check Twitter or similar sites. You mentioned a NAS—should I set up a proxy through it? Would that be useful?

I opted for Ultrasurf despite restrictions. It was disabled by group policy, so I employed a method to strip the digital certificate from the installer. Success.

You can easily create a WAMP setup on your home computer and add a web proxy script (many are available online). Then you can connect directly to your local proxy and enjoy unrestricted internet access. The advantage is that it’s a private proxy, making it less likely to get blocked.

If I were you, I’d reach out to the admin or the person in charge right away because there are plenty of reasons for what they’re doing.

I can execute nearly any application on school computers by changing its name to "notepad.exe"
