I was really frustrated, so I erased the drive and started over with Windows again. This time I’ll log in via the live account. Instead of choosing the "switch this account to a local account" option, I’ll create a new user, assign admin rights, and then remove the live account.
Create an account using the desired name or set up a temporary one, restart your PC, log into the temporary account, rename the folder, modify the registry, and ensure all subsequent entries reference "Ryan" or use a symbolic link with the correct folder name. If you prefer a Microsoft-linked account, simply make a local account, log in, and connect it to your Microsoft profile.
Renaming a user directory involves challenges due to registry records and program configurations. Locate your username in a registry editor (such as Registry Workshop) to discover existing entries, which explains why changing the name doesn't alter the directory label.
