You’re considering a major system overhaul. Removing Windows 10 and formatting the SSD might work, but be aware of potential risks. Ensure you back up important data beforehand. Verify compatibility between Windows 7 Pro and your laptop’s hardware. Check for any pending updates or driver conflicts after the cleanup. Proceed with caution and test on a non-critical system first.

some of the latest laptop processors are secured to a specific version... this has happened before, it's frustrating...

I would drive out and utilize a second PC to format or "clean." This should resolve the issue you observed. If you place your CD, press the boot menu button and choose the CD/USB option. This will start you in the CD's virtual environment.

Before starting, insert the USB drivers into the W7 installation using this guide: http://www.asrock.com/microsite/Win7Install/index.html You can remove or format partitions directly during the Windows setup.

What laptop were you testing? Did it function properly?

Yes, you'd typically access the drive settings through the BIOS on your PC.

Check the BIOS and make your CD the top boot option. After entering, format the disk and proceed with installation.

Verify your system's BIOS type and version, as disabling secure boot may be necessary for Windows 7. Certain laptops like ASUS Zenbooks require a specific BIOS version with an integrated 7 boot loader bridge.
