Removing outdated motherboard drivers following a BIOS update
Removing outdated motherboard drivers following a BIOS update
I recently changed my setup from ATX to ITX while retaining the same CPU, SSDs, GPU, and Windows 11 partition. I switched to a different motherboard brand and upgraded from DDR4 to DDR5. As a result, games are now crashing, and I suspect outdated motherboard drivers are the issue. My previous board was an ASUS Z690-A with DDR4. I’m considering reinstalling Windows but want to skip that step. How would you go about finding and removing all the old drivers?
Execute sysprep to standardize the installation process and remove outdated device drivers.
the required command does not require any additional parameters beyond what was specified. the other options in sysprep are intended for deploying images to business or school environments within Active Directory, while the 'generalize' feature helps with hardware replacement by removing drivers and forcing a fresh installation.
Thanks for the update. The original instruction seems to be causing issues because the Microsoft Store isn't installed, which is why sysprep is showing errors. I'll attempt the command again after reinstalling Windows. I'm planning to go through the installation process step by step.
It's clear when the situation reaches a natural conclusion. If you're forced to take this approach, consider swapping out your existing drive for a new one—this can help you save time later. You might also transfer your data to another port or move it to an external enclosure once you're ready.
