Attempting to delete OneDrive (SkyDrive). No longer required. Turn off all browser windows in PC settings. Desire to uninstall. GPEdit doesn’t appear to function... Recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8.0. Any advice?

It seems this idea is likely already present in Windows 8, similar to how iCloud functions on Apple devices. Probably won't be implemented soon.

The initial Bing result provides a detailed guide on how to hide or disable Skydrive on Windows 8.1. The process doesn't fully eliminate the service, but it stops its use and eliminates the OneDrive folder from the left panel in File Explorer.

Press the Windows button plus R (or just use Run), type Gpedit.msc, go to Windows Components, search for OneDrive or Skydrive, click on it, then choose the middle option and select Enable. This will disable its storage without removing it entirely.

Convert your PC account to a local one and Skydrive will disappear from view.
